hCG is a hormone synthesized by syncytiotrophoblasts and belongs to a group of glycoprotein hormones known as gonadotropins. Gonadotropins regulate normal growth, sexual development and reproductive function.1-2 This antibody detects syncytiotrophoblasts in placenta and in tumors such as choriocarcinoma and some cases of seminoma.1
