Smooth Muscle Actin is a part of the actin family of proteins which are highly conserved and form microfilaments. These filaments are one of the major components of the cytoskeleton. Anti-smooth muscle actin immunohistochemical reactivity is seen in smooth muscle cells, myofibroblasts and myoepithelial cells.1-3
