Detection of cytokeratins by immunohistochemistry (IHC) with Cytokeratin Cocktail (AE1 & AE3) Mouse Monoclonal Antibody may be used to aid in the diagnosis of carcinomas, which are malignancies arising from epithelial cells.

Cytokeratin Cocktail (AE1 & AE3) is composed of two mouse monoclonal antibodies, AE1 and AE3, which together react with many cytokeratins, a large family of intermediate filament proteins that are only produced by epithelial cells.1,3 Cytokeratin Cocktail (AE1 & AE3) reacts with all types of epithelia including keratinized epidermis, stratified squamous epithelia of internal organs, other stratified epithelia, and simple epithelia.1 Immunohistochemistry with Cytokeratin Cocktail (AE1 & AE3) is positive in carcinomas, regardless of primary site, but not other malignancies.1-5 Immunohistochemistry for Cytokeratin Cocktail (AE1 & AE3) shows a cytoplasmic pattern of staining.

In combination with other antibodies, this product may be used as an aid in diagnosis.
