Detection of E-cadherin by immunohistochemistry (IHC) with E-cadherin (EP700Y) Rabbit Monoclonal Primary Antibody may be used to aid in the diagnosis of breast carcinomas.
E-cadherin is a calcium-dependent cell adhesion protein that is involved in regulating cell-cell adhesion, mobility, and proliferation of epithelial cells. E-cadherin expression is seen normally in all epithelial cells, but not in non-epithelial tissues.1 Immunohistochemistry for E-cadherin is positive in ductal carcinomas of the breast, but is negative in most lobular carcinomas of the breast.1-3 Immunohistochemistry for E-cadherin shows a membranous pattern of staining.
