Detection of P504s by immunohistochemistry (IHC) with P504s (13H4) Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody may be used to aid in the diagnosis of prostate carcinoma.

P504s, or alpha-methylacyl-CoA racemase (AMACR), is a mitochondrial and peroxisomal enzyme that is essential for lipid metabolism.1,2 P504s expression is found normally in many benign tissues including the liver, kidney, and gastrointestinal tract, but not the prostate.3 P504s expression has also been found in most prostate carcinomas, but rarely in benign prostate tissue.1-5 Immunohistochemistry for p504s shows a granular cytoplasmic pattern of staining.
