Caldesmon is a regulatory protein which plays a role in smooth muscle contraction with actin, myosin, tropomyosin, and calmodulin. Anti-caldesmon antibody labels smooth muscle and tumors of smooth muscle.1-3 It also typically shows expression in epithelioid mesothelioma but not in ovarian serous carcinoma.4,5
