Alpha-1-Antitrypsin is a protease inhibitor from the serpin superfamily, which inhibits a number of protease enzymes from inflammatory cells. The immunohistochemical Anti-A-1-antitrypsin reagent has been useful in studying  inherited AAT deficiency, hepatic tumors, lesions of a histiocytic nature, and cryptogenic cirrhosis or other forms of liver disease with portal fibrosis of uncertain etiology.1-6
