Thyroid peroxidase (TPO) is a thyroid-specific enzyme involved in thyroid hormone synthesis. TPO can be found in normal thyroid and thyroid carcinoma of papillary and follicular type. Studies indicate that TPO is a useful marker for the differentiation of benign and malignant thyroid neoplasms.1-3
