Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is a member of the pituitary glycoprotein hormone family which also includes luteinizing hormone (LH), chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH).1 Members of the pituitary glycoprotein hormone family consist of a shared alpha chain and a beta chain encoded by a separate gene.1-3 The FSHB gene encodes the beta subunit of follicle stimulating hormone.1-3 FSH enables ovarian folliculogenesis and is essential for Sertoli cell proliferation and spermatogenesis.2 Anti-FSH is a useful marker in classification of pituitary neoplasms because it labels FSH-producing cells (gonadotrophs).3-5
